In TweetCaster for Android you can save battery life by turning off Background Notifications in settings. Select "Settings" from the menu, tap the account for which you wish to modify settings and then scroll down and tap "Notifications" and then uncheck the box for Background Notifications. With background notifications turned off, you will no longer be notified of new tweets after exiting TweetCaster.
