Tweetcaster 6.9.7 loses timeline position if I close and reopen the app

I am trying Tweetcaster after using Plume for quite some time. The Tweet scheduling feature of Tweetcaster was attractive and I like how the app looks.  However, there is a really annoying problem that might be a deadbreaker for me unless I am doing something wrong.

I tend to use Tweetcaster at isolated times during the day, so when I open the app, I'll have hours of unseen tweets to scroll through. However, as interuptions come up, I seldom get through the entire list of new tweets. So I need to close the app and come back to it later.  Every time I come back to it, Tweetcaster "fast forwards" me to the top of my timeline to the most recent tweet.  Why does it not stay where I left it on the screen?  I have to scroll back through hours of tweets to try and find where I left off.

Plume behaved very well in this regard. It simply remarked my progress to whatever was the top tweet on the screen when I closed the app.  I've tried Tweetcaster sync as well as Tweetmarker and it makes no difference.  Tweetmarker with Plume worked exactly as I need it to.

Is this a setting?  Is it by design?  Is it a bug that is being fixed?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for the post. I was able to confirm with project management in regards to your issue that the process for TweetMarker is being updated to better handle timeline position. The issue you were encountering was due to caching issues with the TweetMarker as it would only be able to go back up to 800 tweets or so. If the timeline surpassed 800 tweets, the TweetMarker would not be able to retain necessary position. This process will be enhanced and updated for users here very soon. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any further questions or issues, please let us know.

Thanks,

The issue is not isolated to TweetMarker. In fact I don't use TweetMarker except to test to see if the problem went away using that service. The problem exists with TweetCaster sync as well and is the service that I was using when I first discovered the issue. Does it suffer from the same problem that you described above?

If you don't close the app, and turn off auto-refresh, you will be taken back to where you were when you left off whenever you come back to it.

i am having a related problem.  for me, the tweetmarker seems to be set correctly - the problem is that when i invoke the 'jump to tweetmarker' feature, it is not able to jump until i scroll, wait for 'loading tweets' to finish, scroll some more, wait for 'loading tweets', scroll, etc.repeating for some time until i manually get closer to the tweetmarker position.  then, finally, 'jump to tweetmarker' works.  this behavior almost completely kills the usefulness of the 'jump to tweetmarker' feature.  why can't i jump to tweetmarker from the top, or when i first start or come back to tweetcaster?

I have the exact same problem on the latest version. "Jump to Tweetmarker" only works if I have a small number (seems to be < 100) tweets unread since the last use, which for me is a couple hours at most.  If it is longer than that, Jump to Tweetmarker doesn't work until I scroll completely through my timeline so that "loading tweets" comes up.  THEN Jump to Tweetmarker works.  It's really frustrating.

I also recently switched from Plume to TweetCaster and I'm having the same issue with the timeline position getting lost. I sent an email to TweetCaster support and they told me to set it up to sync with TweetMarker. I tried this and it almost never works. I say almost because there have been a few rare occasions where it remembered my last timeline position and the mark is displayed at that position. Most often I get taken to the top of the timeline and using Jump to TweetMarker doesn't do anything. Per the post from Frank on 1/23 I just turned off auto-refresh so I'll see if that helps.
