1Weather - GPS issue

I saw the Tweet about 1Weather and gave it a try.  I set it to update as infrequently as possible, and it still sucked down my battery.  The problem is that as soon as I launched it, it polled the GPS for the current location, and never let up.  Three hours after exiting the app, it was still pulling the GPS - it was set to update every 12 hours.

This is on a Droid X running stock not rooted Gingerbread.

Why was it pulling the GPS anyway?  There was no option I could see to "use current location".

@Jeffrey, the app does poll GPS for your location when you first launch the app so you can add your current location if you choose.  The first dialogue displayed typically shows what the app thinks is your current location, and asks if you wish to use that location.  We are planning on adding a true "current location" feature in the near future (i.e., weather updating based on where you are) but it is not yet enabled.

The app does occasionally poll GPS for location based ads, but I don't believe it should be constantly using the GPS.  I will let the development team know so that they can investigate.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you.  I've since re-installed 1Weather and this time it's GPS polling is behaving better, but I still think it should not be doing that unless the user says to as that can suck a lot of power, especially if the user is inside a building...  I may have to move it to the SD card just to get it to stop doing that (by preventing it from running in the background).
