1weather widget not updating

I have the app and widget set to 30 minute updates.  I have the widget on my main home screen and it doesn't ever change.  I added it last night and when I got up this morning it still had yesterday's date and information on it.  The only way I've found to get the widget to update is to tap it, open the app and then exit.  Any suggestions?

Our development team have seen this issue also and they are working on a fix.  You should hopefully see this working correctly after the next update.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Has this update been released yet or is it still in development/testing?

@Christopher, it's still in testing. Hopefully we will have a release this week with the issue fixed.  Sorry for the delay.

No worries Eric, I know how the process goes.  Was just curious.  Let me know if you need another tester.

I had updated Geir previously in a separate inquiry he had sent, but in testing the update - which takes 24 hours - we found additional update issues.  This required a second test and the updates are still not performing at the level that our 1Weather team desires.  They are making significant changes to the way that updates work to make sure that they are always pulling the newest information.  It is looking like it may be Monday before the update as there are changes that need to be completed today and then re-testing, but as an end result updates should be considerably more robust in the next release.

1Weather 1.4 is now available for download in the Android Market.

What's in this version:

  1. Added support to switch between "Feels like" and current air temperature for the Status Bar

  2. Improved radar animation

  3. Fixed widget refresh failures

  4. Fixed issues with status-bar notification settings.

Hi i just downloaded your weather app and im having weather refresh issues. The only time i get the weather to update is to uninstall and reinstall the application. Also when i open up the app it doesn't refresh like it should.

I have the same problem, my outside air temp still reads 62deg when it is 85deg out.  It shows that it was last updated recently (10min ago) but the temp does not update in either the status bar, actual app or the widget.  This seems like a pretty key function of a weather app.

The way the app is currently configured, if an update fails - for example if the signal is bad, WiFi is unavailable, you're on the phone, etc., it does not try again, but it does update the time it tried the last update - so in some instances though the update time is current, that's not the time of the last successful update - just the last time it tried.  Our developers are working on some logic for the app so that it will try again. The new update should be available in the next few days.

Eric - the new update didn't address the above issue, not sure if you all were hoping that it would.  I've updated while connected to 4g and it still doesn't seem to work.

Same issue here as described above - widget not updating, even after the update yesterday.  I really like the look and feel of the the app, but it's not much use to me personally while the widget isn't updating.  I'll hold off leaving app feedback until the above issue gets fixed, but once it does I have only good things to say so far.

FYI - I have the Droid X2, on Verizon, and I'm on a wireless network 90% of the time.

Andrew and Greg, if you'd submit a ticket to us via the link at the top of the page, we can send you a debug build to try.  There are many factors involved in the update and without debug info it's difficult to know where the failure is happening.  We did a lot of widget testing prior to this release and it passed our in-house testing, but we can't test on every device/carrier/OS combo.

OK, I think I figured it out - if 'Status Bar Notification' is off (so no temp appearing in the status bar), the widget does not update - for me anyway.  When I activate that setting, the widget updates properly.  I'm not sure if you'll consider this a bug or if it's the expected behavior, but to me it feels like a bug, since you can disable the status bar notification and still leave 'Auto Update' on.  I'll submit a ticket as requested in case you still want me to load the debug build.

Hi Greg.  That's not the way it should be working (as noted in my reply to your email, just wanted to duplicate that information here for those reading this thread) and if that is the case it could be a bug.  Thanks for helping us troubleshoot this issue.

Andrew, I don't see any tickets under your email address or name.  Did you use a different address?  Did you receive a confirmation that the ticket had been received?

Hi, is this bug fixed yet? My widget also does not update.

Hi,

This was actually fixed previously, but we're experiencing a similar issue again with 1.7.  We should have an update available within the next day or two. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Seth, we're seeing some other reports of this as well.  Does it matter which widget?

Eric, after reinstalling the app three times it is now working. Separate issue: settings in map revert to default after app is closed. Known issue?

I'm using the 2x2 widget and it never updates. I have version 2.0.5 of the app. I have auto-refresh set to 15 minutes, and the "current conditions" notification off. If I leave it running overnight, the widget still shows yesterday's weather.

I just downloaded your app a few weeks ago and everything was working fine up until a few days ago when I got my JB Android update.  The widget will not update.  I have to remove the widget from my home page and then add it again to get the current conditions.  Then, the process starts all over again with not updating showing only the information from the last time I deleted/added the widget.  What's happening?
